the city of the Navy Glory

S E V A S T O P O L

SevastopolFor a long time many tourists have been dreaming about visiting one of the most secret towns of USSR - Sevastopol (Sebastopol) that due to its military status was closed not only for foreigners, but for Ukrainian tourists as well. And now you have an opportunity to visit the city that is still a base for Russian and Ukrainian Navy and has many secrets to open after many years of a reservation.

Sevastopol is located on a southwest extremity of a Crimean peninsula, where the hilly coast is cut up by tens bays. Perhaps Sevastopol has the most colorful history of any city in the former Soviet Union. Situated on a beautiful bay, it has it all: sun, beaches, parks, seaside cafes, attractions and charm.

For several thousand years this area mixes a history of different nations and cultures of brave and hardworking people. Archeologists tell that tribes of Tavrs, Scythians and Sarmats were the first ones who had settlements in this area. Then for 2 thousand years (with V century BÑ up to XV century AÂ) ancient Greeks (emigrants from HerakleaChersonese ruins Pontiyskaya) ruled this place and based Chersonese Tavrichesky - city-state, existing two thousand-years and played the important role in historical fates of Northern Black Sea coast.

And on February 10, 1784, shortly after a long struggle of Russia for an output to the Black Sea successfully was finished during the war with Turkey 1768-1774, city-fortress at the Black sea was built and named by Sevastopol. By were born as naval base, Sevastopol forever has connected to a fate of the Black Sea fleet.

Many times since its foundation Sevastopol has been ruined during different wars. Last time it was almost completely destroyed during the heroic defense in times of the Fascist Invasion on bloody times of World War II, but always it has risen from ruins and become even more beautiful.

Sevastopol HarbourWe have to admit - these days are not the best in the history of the city, it suffers from the economic crisis as well as any Ukrainian city. Beauty of the nature and historical monuments contrast with the problems with winter heating and hot or even cold water in the most apartments of regular people. Though it's hard to see any problems when you look around at peoples faces - the are cheerful and friendly, and it is a very safe city – perhaps the result of its military heritage.

And the list of wonderful and unforgettable places where you can go in or around Sevastopol is just endless - Greek ruins of Chersonese, the Russian Black Sea Fleet Museum and other galleries and museums, the Black Sea aquarium with a famous dolphin show, yacht sailings and car trips to Bakhchisaray, ancient city Choufout-Kale, Foros church and Yalta and other places you'll never forget about visiting.

We can say that with our help of arranging your tour and with good will, flexibility, and a sense of humor from your side - your visit to Sevastopol will become a wonderful adventure!
