Kyiv
situated on the bank of the river Dnipro in north central Ukraine, the 
city is
indeed a major road and rail junction and a port city. By the highway, Kyiv is
about 480 km from Odesa and 487 km from Kharkiv.
Boryspil airport is about 40 km southeast of the city center on a rare stretch of four-lane road. Major refurbishing and upgrading of technology, including a much-needed baggage carousel, has put Boryspil on par with other European airports. There is also an attractive and comfortable lounge, a duty-free shop, a coffee shop and bar and modern clean restroom.
Zhuliany airport, just 11 km southwest of the city serves domestic flights and flights to newly independent states of the former Soviet Union.
